Discover Christopher Wren’s churches by walking through the City streets!
Before the Great Fire of London, the City held over one hundred and ten churches within its boundary! Sometimes the buildings sat together, side by side in the small space known as the Square Mile. London life was lived by religious services and rules. Woe betide the citizen who ate meat on a Friday!
Take a walk through the City streets to discover what remains of the churches and religious institutions after the Great Fire. Some date back to over a thousand years, many rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren, each one individual in form and character.
Advice to participants:
– Wear ultra-comfortable shoes.
– Check weather forecasts and make sure you have warm and waterproof clothes if necessary. Being cold on a walking tour can spoil the entire experience.
– Do not hesitate to bring a little snack with you (nuts or biscuits) and a flask of your favourite drink.
