Let’s discover a corner of Lambeth and its fascinating history! We invite you to cross the river and discover a part of London that lies on the other side of the neo-gothic towers of the Houses of Parliament, at the foot of Lambeth Palace.
We will explore the industrial past of this part of London and the role of the beautifully restored church of St-Mary’s Lambeth that now hosts one of London’s secret gems: a museum that transports us to the early seventeenth century and tells the story of John Tradescant, royal gardener, traveller and collector at the origins of England’s first museum. More treasures await you: a collection showcasing Britain’s greatests gardeners and landscapers, a temporary exhibition, and one of London’s best panoramas from the top of the old medieval tower! Not to mention a lovely shop full of summer gifts!
Advice to participants:
– Wear ultra-comfortable shoes.
– Check weather forecasts and make sure you have warm and waterproof clothes if necessary. Being cold on a walking tour can spoil the entire experience.
– Do not hesitate to bring a little snack with you (nuts or biscuits) and a flask of your favourite drink.
