Ahead of Christmas we all need a bit of sparkle, and sparkle galore awaits us at the London Silver Vaults!
Our tour will start with a 30-minute walk along the picturesque medieval brick walls and the Victorian neo-Gothic arches of Lincoln’s inn Fields before we head underground through Fort Knox-style security doors, and wow!
The Silver Vaults are a unique hidden gem where some thirty specialised antique dealers showcase their treasures: from the grandest baroque centrepieces to the much more affordable English teapots, napkin rings or elegantly-curved ladles, everything is for sale, and this is where our guide Muriel does her Christmas shopping!
We’ll talk hallmarks, solid and plated silver, Georgian and Art Nouveau style in a fun and informative way, and who knows, you may head back home with bags full of Christmas gifts!
Advice to participants:
– Wear ultra-comfortable shoes.
– Check weather forecasts and make sure you have warm and waterproof clothes if necessary. Being cold on a walking tour can spoil the entire experience.
– Do not hesitate to bring a little snack with you (nuts or biscuits) and a flask of your favourite drink.
