Our tailored British Museum tour this November is an invitation to cross oceans and roam the seas.
Lead by expert guide Muriel Carré, we will be looking at objects that reveal incredible sea-faring stories and that will help us understand why men have braved the elements to cross oceans in great voyages of discovery or conquest.
Our humble voyage will start with Odysseus’s long journey home, and we will then travel alongside Vikings, Spanish Conquistadores, traders of the East India Company, the crew of Captain James Cook, Darwin’s Beagle and many more seafarers and adventurers. Welcome aboard!
Advice to participants:
– Wear ultra-comfortable shoes.
– Check weather forecasts and make sure you have warm and waterproof clothes if necessary. Being cold on a walking tour can spoil the entire experience.
– Do not hesitate to bring a little snack with you (nuts or biscuits) and a flask of your favourite drink.
